Ashish fernandez

Program Manager, Google

Ashish Fernandez comes to The Valley from Alberta, where he spent 10 years working for Shell in the northern oil fields of Fort McMurray and its corporate offices in Calgary. During this time, Ashish was a process engineer, a project manager, and a senior economist in commercial business development. Realizing that he wanted to transition into the accelerating tech industry, he launched a social polling tech startup called Thirdegree to get more connected to the industry and to develop his skills in product development, product-to-market strategy, and marketing. Ashish now works at Google, where he is a program manager for business processes in Project Fi - Google's telecom play. Since moving to the Bay Area, Ashish and his family enjoy playing tourist in the beautiful weather and navigating the many rungs of the DMV.

Vanessa yang

head of creative, apple

Vanessa Yang’s hometown is Vancouver BC, and she comes to The Valley with an international career under her belt. After completing her studies at UBC, Vanessa moved to Hong Kong, landing a job at Nike as a product manager. The first of many “dream jobs!” Vanessa's career ambitions of being a part of China’s economic boom brought her to Shanghai where she continued developing her skills in product creation, marketing and go-to-market strategy with Adidas. After 11 years in Asia, Vanessa relocated back to North America with Apple to manage a channel retail business consisting of over 1,850 stores in 87 countries. She then took some well deserved time off while taking on consulting projects to keep her creative juices flowing! Vanessa is now back at Apple in Cupertino managing a global creative team, developing the marketing strategy for AMP retail.

He internally transferred to the Wharton School at Penn to study business and graduated with a dual concentration of Business Analytics and Entrepreneurial Management. His internships spanned the gamut in tech, from early stage fitness startup Cody (acq. Alo), to startup studio Atomic (Hims, Terminal, Bungalow, Zenreach), and VC firm Bessemer Venture Partners.
