One of the things venture capitalists need to be good at is spotting trends. These trends can be anything from technology trends, new markets, business models and conferences. 

So, a few years back there was this little conference that was mostly attended by academics, a few Yahoo folks and the odd hacker – that conference started doubling in attendance, year after year, until it was the center of the big data movement and the focus of the Hadoop space. A year or so later, there was this little conference mostly attended by NASA folks, a few Rackspace folks and the odd hacker – that conference started doubling in attendance and is now the center of the OpenStack space.

Next, there was this little conference in Vancouver that started doubling in attendance…you get the point. 

I don’t yet know what will blossom from this exciting conference, but I have every intention to be there to find out. Plus, if you check out the speaker list at Grow, you can be certain I will be there with the tech and startup leaders from around the world.
